Do the width's of these photographs seem weird? If so, use any browser other than I.E.

Please excuse the seeming randomness of these photos; they were what I had on my hard drive, probably sent as e-mail attachments sometime in the past. I'll update this page as I begin to scan the boxes of pictures I found.
Family and Friends please help me caption each photograph correctly with respect to Subject, Location, Occasion, and Date.
We have always had a full house of animals and people; very often rescue attempts in both cases. In addition to dogs and cats, we had a variety of other animals ranging from ant farms and hamsters, to aquariums (some elaborate, others not), to an iguana, to two cages of rabbits, and we often became the summertime guardians of the classroom menageries.

The last few years have not been kind to my photograph collection. The photos still exist, but often in dusty drawers of many other people. There is an immense collection of slides that need to be digitized. Again, this was just what was on the hard drive of my latest computer.

Help Bob Complete His Bucket List

What is a Bucket List? We all have to do lists and honey do lists and even shopping lists; a bucket list is simply a list of stuff you want to do someday.

Queen Scheherazade began a new story each night but as dawn broke the Queen stopped in the middle of the tale saying she would finish it the next evening. Once the interrupted story was complete, Scheherazade began a new story only to have it interrupted by another dawn. The storytelling continued in this fashion for 1,001 nights. The King was entranced by each story but to Scheherazade the tale’s real value was that she was allowed to live another day. If each story is a metaphor for an item on my bucket list, am I the King or the Queen?

By its very nature a Bucket List is never done; mine runs four single-spaced pages. Of course, I do not have the time, physical ability, financial resources or overwhelming desire to do everything on the list. Over time my interests and abilities have changed; but the list continues to grow. For every item I remove as impossible, impractical or just plain silly, two new items are added to the list; many just as impractical or silly as the items they replaced. Most items on my bucket list can be classified into a few broad categories. Your help in augmenting the list or suggesting new ways to classify list items is most appreciated.

The following are a few examples from my own Bucket List organized into categories that seem to make sense to me.

Trips to Take: for these items, the journey itself is more important than the destination.
By highway (probably in my motorhome): New England in the Fall or historic Route 66.
By rail: Copper Canyon (Senora, Mexico), the many still operating short-line railroads or the LA to San Diego Murder Mystery Train.
By air: Vomit Comet (NASA Zero-G training flight), gliders or hot air balloons.
By water: river rafting (rapids running?) or a steam driven paddle-boat cruise on the Mississippi River.

Places to Go: for these items, the destination itself is more important than the means of getting there.
Parks and natural attractions: Yellowstone, Carlsbad Caverns or Niagara Falls.
Events: (usually annual occurrences). New Year’s Eve in Times Square, Halloween in New Orleans or Vegas, Moon-the-Amtrak, or Summer Solstice at Stonehenge.
Extended Events: (may span several days or weeks, might be scheduled annually, biannually, etc.; or be sporadic). New Mexico Balloon Festival, Olympics, World’s Fair, Burning Man, school reunions or a RV rally.
Memory Lane: (places from my childhood or early adulthood). Detroit, South Bend, West Lafayette, the old cider mill (still there with its own web site), the zoo (once ranked Third in the world), the high school (replaced by a new building eight years ago), our first apartment as a married couple, Studebaker Museum (my first car), Purdue University and of course, the classic drive-ins with carhops.

People:
People to visit that I know or once knew. Family, friends, colleagues, or acquaintances.
People to meet because of their unique position or ability. The President, the Dalai Lama, the Pope, or Stephen Hawking.
People with whom to travel or work. Travel with my Mother! Intergenerational activities with grand-kids, and now even more likely, great-grand-kids; Academic research with one of the many scholars with whom I had always wanted to work before retirement; or take someone on their special trip (ala Make-a-Wish).

Things to Do:
Accomplishments: personal achievements that require persistence and effort. Regain the (modest) physique of my wedding day - weight just 145, able to press 150 pounds and run a mile in under five minutes; learn to play a musical instrument - piano, guitar or voice.
Experiences: in most cases, a single instance will be enough. attend Rocky Horror Picture Show with cast, visit naturist camp, try para sailing or scuba diving.
Activities: if initially successful (or fun), the activity will likely be repeated many times. join local theatre group - work crew, Habitat for Humanity or a Peace Corps Assignment.
Hobbies: usually will include structured group activities and travel. create sawdust while attempting to make planes, trains, cars or miniature room boxes, photography as art (or at least maintain a photo journal).

Unity of Mind/Body/Spirit: becoming a more complete individual.
Lifelong learning: self-study, workshops, seminars, formal classes and degree programs My eclectic interests range from hobby skills, to natural history to scientific cosmology to taking at least one class at Oaksterdam University.
Developing a path to health and wellness: diet, physical exercise, meditation, better lifestyle habits, brain exercises and expanding the friendship base.
Reconciling the Gaia Hypothesis with the Medea Hypothesis: is life itself suicidal or only human beings? The Gaia Hypothesis is gentler but also predicts the extinction of humans sooner.
Develop a personal metaphysical understanding of the cosmos.

Is there a better way to organize and classify the list items? What essential list items are missing completely? Your comments will be totally anonymous unless you identify yourself.
